Billboard Chris and the Conquering of Canada
'The truth spreads for free so I'm just going to keep spreading it'.
Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can,
You find it seldom in a woman, never in a man
Billboard Chris challenges this maxim. Wearing his billboard on which is written in white capitals on a black background, things like, ‘No child is born in the wrong body’ and ‘Children cannot consent to puberty blockers’, he has walked the streets of Canada making himself available for one-to-one conversations with absolutely anyone. Occasionally I have heard these chats and been amazed at the way he takes every tomfool seriously, genuinely engaging with the stupidity, arrogance, petulance, hostility and any number of other emotions that people draw on in the name of ‘conversation’.
‘Our politicians refuse to listen, and our media refuse to report, so I’m having conversations across North America, one person at a time,’ he says. He is a latter-day Socrates conversing with the citizens but dealing not so much with philosophy as with pragmatic reality.
The politicians are still refusing to listen and the media is still refusing to report. It would be fair to say, then, after the incredible scenes that have recently occurred across Canada with hundreds of thousands protesting against gender ideology and, specifically, its infiltration into schools curricula, that Billboard Chris is largely responsible for the mass waking-up to the madness and the dangers of gender ideology.
A couple of years ago Chris Elston was a lonely figure as he walked through townscapes, immaculately dressed, tall and handsome in his professionally produced black and white billboards and polished shoes or pristinely white trainers, and invariably good humoured.
All that mattered was his message and that was clear as day. One billboard said, in the same script used by Kelly Jay Keen in her Let Women Speak messages, Dad: a human male who protects his kids from puberty blockers.
Another said, clear and crisp as it is possible to be: Children cannot consent to puberty blockers.
How did this successful businessman come to be traipsing the streets talking to any Tom, Dick or Harry about what is, after climate change and the mass destruction of nature, the major issue of our times.
‘I’m a father of two girls and I decided to take a stand against gender ideology,’ he has said. ‘Children should be free to be who they are — not indoctrinated to believe they were born in the wrong body.’ His patch now goes well beyond Canadian borders; he is, he says, ‘travelling the world to expose gender ideology and why children cannot consent to medical transition’.
What he says is simple fact and the way he promotes the cause of reality is simple too. No tricks, no cleverness, no aloofness or withholding of information. He will talk with anyone, calmly and rationally, showing an infinite patience that must emanate from his belief that he is doing the most important thing he can do. There is no rush to get to a meeting or attend a conference, to meet up with friends or to go to a concert. No need to be anywhere than where he is.
While Socrates was dealing with the intellect, Chris Elston remains invariably pragmatic. He does not try to show off his debating skills and doesn’t even try to win an argument. He seems to have faith in humanity to work out its own problems. There is nothing slick or slippery in his arguing and he never falls into the trap of intellectualism for the sake of it.
In his clean white trainers, he stands fast, quite literally, come rain, come shine, and meets everyone with sincerity and a genuine desire to let the light in on the dark smouldering pit of lies, threats and mutilation that has been overtaking our entire societies and forcing us into silence, fear and misery.
He has refused to be shaken in the face of mockery, indifference and hostility.
On his website you can see footage of the occasion he was set on by seven blokes in balaclavas and ended up in hospital with a badly broken leg bone. There is no self pity in him. His cause comes way before any personal consideration.
Kelly Jay Keen’s immediate reaction on being attacked and splattered with tomato ketchup on her New Zealand tour, was to take a selfie and spread it widely so it has become The Image of the stupidity and bullish violence that is the hallmark of trans ideology. Billboard Chris is made of the same metal as Kelly Jay.
It is quite something to witness the crass, rude and barbaric response from the best educated and most privileged youth in societies - which are themselves the most privileged societies in the world. Banging their drums, swinging their rattles, blowing their whistles, shouting and screaming, they make any noise they can, and do anything they can to disturb the possibility of rational debate.
‘No debate!’ is the chant of rich, privileged kids benefitting from a western education with every possible advantage. Closing down lectures, no-platforming speakers, censoring films, they force respected lecturers at the peak of their intellectual powers out of their posts. The rest of the world, desperate for even a basic education, is stunned into silence and politely looks away, making no comment, at least not one we can hear.
No-one is immune, no-one escapes the screaming women and threatening men acting on behalf of ‘trans rights’.
They stand very close to Chris shouting and yelling, as if provoking him to react. And he does nothing, just continues calmly to speak and goes on with his steady progress through counties, states and countries building a consistently growing following.
He has the patience of a saint and the doggedness of a campaigner with a mission. He is a model of Buddhism though I don’t think he is a Buddhist, a paragon of Christianity though I don’t know if he ever thinks about it.
Perhaps he is a Taoist, perhaps like Lao Tsu he believes that the strongest thing in the world is water which, humble and always heading downwards to the lowest point, can nonetheless wear down a mountain range. Time is on its side, hurry and haste are unnecessary. The laws of the universe ensure that what will be will be.
When it comes to politics and religion, it is more or less impossible to pin down the extraordinary leaders and speakers of this generation of activists. We are all being required to rethink our allegiances. Gender ideology for all its incoherence and illogicalities has served the cause of rationality well. Politicians find themselves stating that women can have penises – though only a percentage of them - that it is a ‘human right’ for violent male prisoners to be housed with female inmates, that men in female toilets pose ‘no threat’, that men can compete against female athletes and walk off with all the prize money on the grounds of ‘fairness’ and so on. The fact that women gain absolutely nothing from any of these new rules and customs is of such little importance it is not even mentioned.
The ideologues have painted gender critical ‘terfs’ as ‘far right’. Kelly Jay Keen is, they say, a Nazi. But no-one following what has been going on can possibly still believe these outrageous slurs even if they once could.
The new ideology of gender, a strange religion with peculiar beliefs about conception, incarnation and birth, leaves a lot unsaid and unexplained and, since the basic tenet of its gospels is ‘no debate’ and its practice is to create cacophonic noise rather than a comprehensible philosophy or divine hymns and prayers, we poor muddled mortals must wait, indefinitely it seems, for the new religion to produce its bible and its prophets. Meanwhile, we must ponder the great imponderables for ourselves. How do we get born in the wrong body? How, indeed, do we get born in the right body? And how do we know the difference?
What is it that gets incarnated in the right or wrong body? Is it the soul? Or is it the personality? Does incarnation presuppose reincarnation? If so, has the soul been incarnated before? Does it bring karma with it?
There is one massive problem with gender ideology: it doesn’t add up, it doesn’t hold water, it doesn’t make sense.
You can’t describe it and you can’t debate it. All you can do is laugh at it or submit and pretend to believe its lies.
But, given that this mad illogical ideology has taken hold of our societies, we can’t escape. Somehow we have to find a way of voting for people and parties who hold to the truth. We have to shift our allegiances and be willing to vote for anyone who speaks the truth about gender no matter how disturbing their other policies might be.
Gender is one of the biggest themes of our times. And yet in the British Houses of Parliament a bill brought by Andrew Bridgen which called for parents to be informed of their children’s ‘transition’, received only minimal interest and was voted down by 40 votes to 34. Bridgen had previously been a Conservative MP and his views mainly tallied with those of the Tories. But on gender he was an oddity. His support, such as it was, came from a handful of MPs across the political spectrum. Whether you were of the left or the right, to vote in support of Bridgen’s bill would be to flout previously held views and to go against the grain.
It was already clear that gender had no place in politics. Some things are beyond the bounds of politics and sex is one of them.
But while I and a great many others, were tearing our hair out with frustration at the wilful blindness of so many authorities and individuals in authority and preparing to witness further perversities in our culture, something else was going on. And surely Billboard Chris had had a hand in it.
‘The one thing that trans activists can’t endure is a conversation.’ Chris has said. Men in skirts prefer violence to discussion.
But, as if overnight, an enormous groundswell of public concern, centred especially on the grooming of and sexual threats to children, had spilled over. Thousands gathered in protest right across Canada, across the cities where Billboard Chris had walked day after day, year after year, scattering individual seeds of sanity.
Despite all the threats and bullying, despite the capturing of seemingly every institution in the western hemisphere, despite the abject refusal of police forces to act to protect their citizens, rational human beings appeared to be winning out.
The '1MillionMarch4Children' group was responsible for organising the protests, stating that they were advocating for the rights of Canadian children against unnecessary gender ideologies.
‘Gender-identity ideology is now taught as though it is scientific fact to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12,’ Chris has said. ‘But we have the truth on our side. The trans lobby has nothing but lies. It has spent millions pushing this ideology into society, but the truth spreads for free. So I’m just going to keep spreading it.’
I don’t know Billboard Chris personally, but I love and respect what he is doing to protect young people like my teenage daughter from unnecessary medical harm and social indoctrination to an ideology that teaches kids to hate their healthy bodies. I cannot thank him enough.
Brilliant!
